About Petit Jardin
My name is Erica Sage and I am a urban farmer in New Orleans. I run a small sustainable plot of land in Central City where I grow, harvest and produce naturally grown, vegetables, fruit and shelf-stable products.
Petit Jardin honors quality over quantity with small batch, hand curated goods such as spicy pickled vegetables, moringa powder, soaps, dried herbs and dehydrated citrus. I believe small impactful shifts to care about what we put on and in our bodies will imbue positive effects physically, mentally and spiritually both individually and as a collective.
Since it’s inception in 2018, I offer fresh, seasonal produce boxes that include pasture raised chicken eggs from hens that I’ve hatched and reared. I believe in a collective bettering of my community and often engage neighborhood members and children on the land. As a resident of one of many food deserts in Orleans Parish I find strength, joy and potential in providing limited but efficient nutrition options to a city that holds such high food insecurity.
As I put my hands to the soil I bring forward a renewed understanding of our role to this land we occupy. Your contributions to this small black-farmed business support a family, increase vegetable production, and fresh food access and encourage my passion. I am glad you are here.
